Summer/Early Fall Newsletter 2023 #69

The Scioto Greenway trail in Franklin County has a 12 month detour at Souder Ave for the construction of a bike-ped bridge. The detour is on a paved path with 2 manageable street crossings and the length is less than 2/5 of a mile (.15)

On May 19, 2023, Ohio to Erie Trail President Tom Bilcze presented "An Outdoor Economy on the Rise" at the Miami Valley Cycling Summit in Dayton, Ohio.

This year there is a company offering reservations and luggage service, e-Bike Rentals in Corwin and a new Columbus Hotel offering Kayak rentals.

Friends of the Little Miami State Park Newsletter: King Ave. Bridge Project: The trail remains closed at the Grandin Rd. intersection (Peters Cartridge Factory) for continued construction of a new bridge and relocation of a section of trail.

These photos show the new bridge going up over the river. According to the Warren County Engineer’s Office, the northern end of the trail relocation and parking lot construction is slated over the next 3 months or so, and the southern end of the trail relocation will not be able to take place until the existing bridge over the river is removed. The existing bridge removal is planned for July through September of this year, with the southern trail relocation following this work. The Engineer’s Office hopes to have the trail and parking lot open at some point later this fall. Progress reports are available on our FLMSP website and on the Warren County Engineer’s project site.

Poison hemlock has become too widespread for it to be eradicated from Ohio. This dangerous plant can be fatal. Trail visitors should be able to identify poison hemlock to avoid ingesting it or getting it in your eyes.

Trail closure on Camp Chase Trail between Galloway Rd and Norton Rd. Signed detour is available. Spring-Summer 2023 for 60 days.

Alum Creek Trail closure between Easton Way and Innis Road for bridge replacement and creek embankment work. There is NO DETOUR.
Public Transportation is one option to bypass the trail closure.
