During his career with BASF and Avery Dennison, he managed complex projects, budgets, and partnerships across multiple regions. More recently, Weinstein has been active in the nonprofit sector as a board member with Cornerstone Renters Equity and a volunteer leader with COVERD Greater Cincinnati, where his work has focused on strategic planning, communications, fundraising, and community partnerships.
“Alan brings an exceptional mix of strategic leadership, operational experience, and passion for community engagement,” said Tom Bilcze, President of the Ohio to Erie Trail Fund Board of Directors. “As the Ohio to Erie Trail continues to grow as one of the nation’s premier long-distance trails, Alan’s ability to build partnerships and translate vision into action will help ensure the trail continues to benefit communities across Ohio.”
A resident of Cincinnati, Weinstein is also an active trail user and advocate for outdoor recreation and trail-connected communities. He frequently rides the Little Miami Scenic Trail and has seen firsthand how trail infrastructure supports tourism and small-business vitality.
“The Ohio to Erie Trail is one of the most inspiring examples of regional collaboration in our state,” Weinstein said. “From vibrant cities to small towns and rural landscapes, the trail connects communities into a shared story. I’m honored to help build on that legacy and ensure the trail continues to support tourism, economic development, and healthy outdoor recreation for generations to come.”
The Ohio to Erie Trail is the nation’s longest signed on-road and off-road trail network, linking Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, and Cleveland while passing through dozens of communities along the way. The Ohio to Erie Trail Fund works with local partners and trail managers to strengthen the trail experience and promote the corridor as a premier destination for cycling, walking, and outdoor tourism.
On April 6, 2026, Weinstein will officially start his new role as Executive Director. Beginning on that date, you may contact him by phone at 614-918-3636 or via email at Alan.Weinstein@ohiotoerietrail.org.
